The Centre for Oncology and Immunology (COI) held its 2nd Lab Olympics on February 2, 2026, bringing together Principal Investigators, researchers, and staff to bond within and across research groups. With the Lunar New Year just around the corner — a time traditionally associated with renewal, unity, and shared celebration — the event provided a timely opportunity for colleagues to connect beyond the laboratory setting and reinforce the collaborative culture that drives COI’s research mission.
The event featured a series of games that boosted the energetic, competitive atmosphere among participants. Designed to challenge creativity, communication skills, and practical knowledge on everyday lab work, the games kept everyone fully engaged. Afterward, participants and PIs came together for a group meal and an award ceremony for the winners.
In her closing remarks, COI’s Managing Director Prof. Suet‑Yi Leung emphasized the deeper purpose behind the event: “Science is a journey in working as a team to contribute to knowledge, mankind, and to the good of patients around the world. I hope we continue to work hard and contribute to advancement of eradicating cancer.” Her message encouraged researchers to carry the day’s collaborative spirit into their everyday work.
Thank you to all participants and organizers for helping strengthen the bonds within our COI community! We look forward to building on this momentum as we enter another year of meaningful collaboration and scientific advancement. We wish everyone a prosperous, healthy, and fulfilling year ahead. Happy Year of the Horse!
