The Centre for Oncology and Immunology (COI) was pleased to once again participate in the Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) 2026, continuing our multi-year engagement with this premier platform for global health innovation and collaboration. The summit once again provided a valuable opportunity to connect with international partners, exchange ideas, and showcase our latest scientific advancements.

We were honoured to have Prof. Tak Mak, Co-Director of COI, join us on Day 1, setting a strong tone for our participation. Throughout the event, our booth welcomed a wide range of visitors, including the Finland Delegation and the UK Delegation, where we engaged with representatives from organisations such as TUSPark and UK Cancer Research Horizons. A key highlight was the visit by Mr. LEE Kwok Bun, Ivan, JP, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, underscoring the growing recognition of COI’s contributions to innovation and translational research.

Our showcase this year reflected the breadth of COI’s research pipeline. We highlighted Prof. Alan Wong’s research on next-generation gene editing tools, featuring the CombiSEAL and TopVIP platforms designed to improve precision and minimise unintended genetic effects. Prof. Alan Wong also delivered a strong pitch at the summit, effectively presenting the impact and potential of these advancements in precision medicine. In parallel, COI continues to advance a broader pipeline of targeted therapies, including precision immune-based strategies designed to selectively eliminate cancer cells.

Alongside this, we also highlighted research from Prof. Clive Chung’s group, whose work in medicinal chemistry focuses on “drugging the undruggable” in difficult-to-treat cancers. His team’s chemoproteomics-driven approach enables the discovery of novel covalent drugs, opening new possibilities for targeting previously inaccessible cancer pathways.

With increased participation from the COI team this year, we were able to engage more broadly with stakeholders across academia, industry, and government, strengthening existing relationships while building new ones.

Overall, ASGH 2026 marked another successful chapter in COI’s ongoing engagement with the global health community. By showcasing our latest breakthroughs and expanding our international network, we continue to reinforce our commitment to translating scientific innovation into real-world impact.
