COI welcomes secondary school students for educational visit

This week, we were delighted to welcome five Form 5 students from the Canadian International School of Hong Kong, as part of the Asian Medical Students’ Association Hong Kong (AMSAHK) Academic Research Competition 2025–26. Over the course of the morning, the students were introduced to our research in gastrointestinal cancer and blood cancers, two disease areas with significant impact in Hong Kong and across Asia. Our researchers walked them through the work behind these programmes, from the experimental questions we are trying to answer to the technologies we use to answer them.
Following a guided tour of our laboratories, our scientists demonstrated a range of technical platforms, the students were able to partake in a practical experimental technique to give them a much clearer sense of what scientific research looks like day to day. The visit closed with an informal discussion, where the students put their questions to our researchers from academic pathways to commercialisation of biotechnology and cancer therapies. Their curiosity and engagement were a highlight of the visit.
